E.F.T.Works!
- by Desy Campbell

I bought a pony at an auction in 2000. Since one never knows the history of animals at auction, mostly all one has to go by is instinct, a few objective facts, and maybe a veterinarian’s approval. I went on instinct and a few obvious facts: this pony is small, and I could see that he could pull a small cart with people in it. The price was a bit high, but I was sure he’d pull his weight at my place. He may have been about 5 yrs old according to his teeth. So I bought him.

After a year or so on the farm, my pony “J.E.B. Stuart” became despondent and ailing. Despite many remedies ( herbs and supplements, magnets, Reiki, vibrational healing tones – a cd of AFT) as well as veterinary appointments, no real progress was made until I applied EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). I tapped myself while keeping one hand on my pony’s back.

At first, I tapped several days in a row for his pain. I tapped for his anger, his feeling rejected, his sadness. I tapped for his previous lifetimes. I tapped him for previous abuse and mistreatment. I tapped for his ease and comfort. I tapped for his safety and care. I tapped for his having plentiful hay, grass, treats and water. I tapped for everything I could think of. He likes this attention - that much I do know!

I know when the E.F.T. hits a chord with him – usually J.E.B.’s body shudders. Sometimes he yawns. Often, he looks around at me, as if to say ‘thanks’ and then turns back to eating his hay. Something shifts. I know.

He does return to wholeness and for some reason I can not fathom, he relapses. What are the causes of his relapses? Each time J.E.B. begins to retreat into ache and pain and despondency, I experiment with another concoction that I’d feed him by mouth. He loves this - he eagerly laps whatever mix I make. Also, I got another pony. He fell in love. And then, it seems, J.E.B. feels rejected when I spend time with her.

J.E.B. still hurts on occasion. I see it in his stiff body and his blank eyes. My blacksmith sees it in his feet and his stance.

Apparently he knows he’s tended and loved here – he often gets a spurt of pony in his actions – running away, rolling on command, knowing I’ve treats in my pockets and nuzzling me until I produce a carrot, apple, pear, or other treat. Sometimes he feels good enough to tack up for a driving lesson or a walk across the fields. He likes to go out for inhand walks with his partner pony, Sweety Pi.

Being very specific is the key to using E.F.T. As one goes through the tapping points, changing a few words – like feelings, emotions, thoughts – gives more clarity to the issue one is clearing. Continual, daily tapping also is key to healing with E.F.T. Besides healing pony issues, I also benefit from the process.
